What’s On: December 2017

December is one of the most magical months to visit Canterbury, with lots of festive things to do as locals celebrate Christmas and New Year.

Canterbury’s high street sparkles with Christmas lights in December, and shops are full of people stocking up on gifts and cards.

A focal point of the holiday season in Canterbury is, of course, the Cathedral, which will be hosting a series of events in the build-up to Christmas.

Get into the festive spirit during  December visit by experiencing some of Canterbury’s favourite seasonal activities: shop for handmade gifts and festive food at the Whitefriars Christmas market, go ice skating in the Dane John gardens (from 8 December onwards), meet Father Christmas in his grotto, enjoy carols and concerts and watch a Christmas pantomime, or head to the theatre and be enchanted by a story that transports you to winter wonderlands…
